SALFORD NEWS | Salford City Council has approved a £250m data centre at Peel Waters’ Halo West site, between Eccles and Irlam. The development, led by Peel Waters and Digital Land & Development, will be a critical addition to the UK’s digital infrastructure, ensuring the country remains a global leader in technology.
The state-of-the-art facility will include office space, a large data hall, and sustainable design features such as energy-efficient materials, reduced water consumption, and potential heat reclaim for future district heating. It will also enhance the local streetscape with green buffers and improved biodiversity.
This major investment will drive economic growth, create jobs, and act as a catalyst for further regeneration in Salford’s City Gateway area, which includes Port Salford and Salford Community Stadium. The project aligns with the city’s vision for technological advancement and sustainable urban development.
